In 2007, we purchased and relocated to a purpose-built office in Colchester to facilitate the development and growth of our core teams.
Flash forward 7 years to 2014 and it became apparent that our ocean export, ocean import, European, project logistics, sales and accounts, and administration teams had outgrown that space.
It just so happened we were also looking for a new warehouse facility at that time, so when the site – now known as Hemisphere House – on Whitehouse Road in Ipswich became available, we had to snap it up.
In July 2014, HFS concluded the largest commercial property purchase in Ipswich for 10 years, enabling us to combine our local warehousing and transport operations.
We were confident the site would not only serve our immediate requirements for warehousing and transport in the local area – due to its close proximity to the Port of Felixstowe – but would also provide an abundance of office space, which we desperately needed.
We viewed and subsequently purchased the site back in 2014, and initially moved our warehouse administration and transport teams to the new Ipswich HQ. Around eight months ago, we commenced our plan to fully refurbish all of the office space, with a view to relocating the rest of our Colchester team.
After considerable investment into the new site, and around 6 months of refurbishment work, we’re now only a matter of weeks from completing the full relocation.
The amalgamation of our Colchester and Ipswich operations will be a very positive step for the company, and indeed, for our merging teams. This facility affords Hemisphere the space to be able to further expand our operational and administration teams, which with our current rate of growth is very important indeed!
