Last month, we were excited to reveal that Louis Perrin had been selected as Europe’s regional finalist for the 2018 Young International Freight Forwarder of the Year award, which recognises freight professionals under the age of 32 who have excelled in the industry. The awards ceremony took place at the FIATA World Congress in New Delhi on Friday 29 September, and it gives us great pleasure to announce that Louis fought off stiff competition from three other regional finalists to claim the prize.
Louis was shortlisted for the award after impressing judges with his 6,000-word dissertation that detailed an import and export shipment managed by Hemisphere, which he then had to present to the final judging panel in Delhi. Along with a trophy, which will take pride of place at Hemisphere HQ, Louis was awarded two weeks’ training from award sponsor TT Club, plus a year’s free subscription to International Freighting Weekly and the International Transport Journal.
“I’m overwhelmed to win this award – the competition was challenging, and so much hard work went into it,” said Louis. “The other candidates were extremely talented logistics professionals, so to be announced as the winner is an achievement that I’m incredibly proud of. While it’s great for me on a personal level, it’s also very humbling to see Hemisphere being recognised on the global stage. This award is for our brilliant team as much as it is for me.”
During the congress, Louis also had to present his dissertation to other young freight forwarders and delivered a speech on the future of logistics to European delegates. “I’d like to thank FIATA for putting on a fantastic event,” he added. “I enjoyed meeting so many freight professionals from around the world, including my fellow finalists.”
