At Hemisphere, we pride ourselves on providing opportunities for career progression, enabling our people to grow and achieve their goals. In addition to our recent raft of new starters, we’re excited to announce the promotion of five employees into new positions.
Richard Jackson
The UK’s departure from the European Union has brought new challenges and opportunities, both for ourselves and our customers. To support customers beyond Brexit and grow our European logistics service, we have promoted Richard Jackson into the role of European Manager.
Richard has been with Hemisphere for six years, initially joining us as a Recycling Coordinator in April 2015. He has since held roles in our Ocean Imports and UK Transport teams. In his new role as European Manager, Richard has been busy implementing the necessary processes and systems that will help us manage operational and customs requirements for customers trading between the UK and EU.
Beyond this, Richard keeps a close eye on all other regulatory changes resulting from Brexit, ensuring the Hemisphere team is kept up to date and adapting our services so customers can continue to operate effectively with minimal disruption to their supply chain.
Ian Stewart
Brexit has naturally led to an expansion of our current customs services. We now have a dedicated team that can help customers navigate customs formalities and submit declarations on their behalf.
Having served as Project Coordinator for seven years, Ian Stewart has taken on the role of Customs Manager, as we look to grow this specialist service over the coming years. As well as managing a team of customs operatives, Ian keeps customers up to speed with the latest regulatory changes and the documentation they will need to transport goods between the UK & EU.
Ian and his team are always on hand to offer advice on customs procedures, while issuing transit documentation and declarations where required.
Karen Vincent
With more customers taking advantage of our warehousing facilities at Ipswich, Skelmersdale and London Heathrow, we have recently expanded our warehousing team, while promoting Karen Vincent to the position of Warehouse Administration Manager.
Karen has been a key member of our warehousing team for over a decade, diligently dealing with customer enquiries and ensuring goods are received, stored and dispatched efficiently. In her new role, Karen heads up our growing team of warehouse administrators and is fully accountable for administration, reporting and analysis at our Ipswich depot.
As the front-line ambassador for all warehouse office enquiries, Karen regularly liaises with customers to monitor service levels and develops processes to further enhance the efficiency of our warehousing service.
Karen’s promotion also coincides with our acquisition of 60,000 square feet of warehousing space at the Port of Felixstowe, which will significantly increase our capacity for managing imports and exports through the port.
Stephanie Cotton
In line with the growth of our Customs and Warehousing teams, Stephanie Cotton has assumed the role of ETSF Supervisor, stepping up from her previous role of ETSF Operative.
Our ETSF customs bonded warehouses at Ipswich and London Heathrow provide extensive space for customers to store imported goods and defer duty payments for up to 90 days before release. This is particularly useful for customers importing regular bulk consignments.
Following Brexit, Stephanie has a key role assisting customers with the smooth running of all customers processes and formalities, while ensuring no goods are released without HRMC’s approval. Stephanie also works with Karen Vincent on the continuous improvement of warehouse processes, as well as staff training and development.
Phillip Rushby
A huge increase in online sales has led to a rapid expansion of our fulfilment team. In order to maintain an efficient service for our various e-commerce clients, we have promoted Phillip Rushby to the newly-created role of Fulfilment Manager.
With many years’ fulfilment experience under his belt, Phillip is well-positioned to drive our fulfilment service forward and ensure we continue to exceed the expectations of customers operating in this fast-moving space.
Beyond stock control, Phillip and his team will support other departments during peak shipping periods, while helping to onboard new customers with IT set-ups, warehouse configuration and staffing needs. Phillip can also develop feedback procedures for customers to implement into their own processes, where required.
Craig Perrin, Warehouse and Transport Manager, said: “We invest heavily in staff development at Hemisphere and love nothing more than seeing our team take their careers to the next level. Everyone has earned their promotions through hard work, dedication and consistently delighting our customers, which I’m sure will continue in their new roles.”
