I’d like to say a big thank-you to Paul Nicholls of Norfolk Dangerous Goods Training for taking our team members through the 3-day IMDG training course and a day of ADR training this week.
Six of our team successfully completed the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code course, with another 7 taking part in ADR training, which covers the carriage of Dangerous Goods by road.
Our aim was to further develop our team members’ knowledge and expertise of the broad spectrum of hazardous goods, improving our understanding of the documentation required, as well as changes in classifications of products as they move along the supply chain.
We’re always looking to enhance the service we offer to our customers and this training means we’re even better placed to provide our clients with continued well-founded advice and guidance; as well as producing our own dangerous goods notes, which will only enhance the quality of customer service we’re able to offer.
One of our Projects Co-ordinators, Ian Stewart, completed the training and had this to say: “I feel the knowledge gained on this course has further enhanced my customer service abilities, as I can confidently give our customers advice on the carriage of dangerous goods. I’m also expecting to see improvements in my operational capabilities and efficiency as I’m now able to communicate on the same level as other stakeholders in the supply chain.”
Katie Murphy, of our Ocean Export Operations department, commented: “The 3-day IMDG training course gave an in-depth insight into the transport of hazardous cargo via ocean freight. It was very informative and interesting thanks to the knowledge of the trainer, Paul Nicholls. We were shown a series of videos relevant to each section of the training, with examples of the consequences and importance of understanding all aspects of transporting hazardous cargo, which for myself being ‘Export Operations’ has been great to extend my knowledge.
“The ADR training was also very informative and was more focused around the safety side for warehouse practice and the consequences involved. Overall, I believe the course was extremely beneficial to all departments and will definitely be of use to me and the rest of our team in the future.”
