At Hemisphere Freight Services (HFS), we’re incredibly proud of our commitment to staff development and providing meaningful career opportunities for people in the local area. We strongly believe that an engaged workforce is an essential part of delivering a first-class freight forwarding service; that’s why we offer regular training opportunities to our employees, as well as an attractive working environment. And we’re delighted that this has now been recognised with yet another industry award win.
We were shortlisted for both the Project Forwarding Award and the Staff Development Award at the 2018 BIFA Freight Service Awards, held on 17 January 2019 in London. We were thrilled to be named a finalist in the highly coveted Project Forwarding Award, and it was fantastic to see our team receive the recognition they deserve. However, our biggest success of the night was winning the Staff Development Award, which is testament to our hard work to not only improve the health and wellbeing of our existing staff, but also to encourage the freight forwarders of the future into becoming logistics professionals.
The judges said the following about our win: “[We] were impressed with the way in which Hemisphere was interacting with BIFA’s recommended key qualifications and how this was benefiting both staff and customers. In addition, the fact that managers and supervisors have been promoted internally underlines Hemisphere’s commitment to staff development as well as recruitment.”
They continued: “Hemisphere has also launched an apprenticeship scheme in partnership with BIFA to encourage the next generation of logistics professionals. As well as apprenticeships and internal development and promotion, Hemisphere has invested in improving the working environment for their staff and this has had a positive impact on their happiness and wellbeing.”
BIFA also acknowledged our link with our chosen charity Inspire Suffolk. We are very proud to be sponsoring various Inspire Suffolk programmes run in conjunction with the Prince’s Trust, which will also hopefully highlight and encourage young adults who may wish to consider logistics as their chosen career path in the future.
It is a great feeling to be recognised for our work around staff development and offering a viable career path. Without our fantastic staff, HFS wouldn’t be where it is today.
